Fishing Slower Day-Big Carp-3-31-Portage

Post by OhioFisher Tue Mar 31, 2009 9:11 pm

Well Kevon bailed on me today but I was sure I had to fish! I did absoultley nothing yesterday which was dumb, guess I shoulda tried the pond for the first time this year or something because I really only like to fish a few places alone and the pond is one of em...

So James and I loaded up before the bad weather, wind was out of the east which makes for our spot to be good.
At first the bite was slow... I kept on building our "Island" out of random junk with the shovel, Saw the Eagle who lives only a 1/4 or so away and had a few pairs of geese in the area to keep us busy until the first bite.

This is the island lol-sticks about 1ft. above the water and is in about a 1/1/2 or so... The wees grew up there and we have been piling junk on it for two years... It's getting big and you can stand/fish on it even with this high water which is surpringly clear.

So we finally got a bite, missed that, then James hooks up for the first time on an average channel cat.

Standing in front of the poles, he turns his head I look down and say "O f-bomb" Laughing got a good hook set and pulled in this 24in. Carp!

Day slowly moves on.... The water came up about 4in. while we were there but stayed clear, the temperature also got cooler... The fishing was relatively slow all day. They bit mostly on Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Tim Mcgraw, and Kenny Chesney haha. Yeah, worms as always panned out and we had fun-enjoy

Haha nope,
Actuallly today was one of the only days I've ever had where there was an actual technique to getten em...
The farther the cast the more bites Smile

Too bad I use heavy duty cat rods for the hell of it lol

You notice the fish got smaller after the F-bomb! I'll have to remember that... Always looking for patterns when I fish!
