cobb lake is crystal clear...evening bite for the crappies

well after 2 weeks of banging the brush and getting no crappies, i went down to cobb last night. buddy of mine fished last 2 evenings and slaughtered the largemouth with 2 over 4 pounds, by just letting a nightcrawler with no weight sink real slow. he's complaining about how clear it is. couple years ago it got real clear for the first time in 7 years, and we were fishing for bluegills 14 feet deep. anyways, i took my bucket of minnows after running an ac service call and hit the lake about 8 pm. first cast 5 feet deep in the brush!!! FISH OHIO crappie, 13 1/4 inches long real monster, then missed two more, then picked up an 8 incher, and then missed 1 more, and it was over by 8:35. not another bite. heres the pic. look at the size difference of 8 incher to the monster! alright, i'll let you see them again!

Never tried an evening bite... Do you ever get em with jigs at night, or is that too fast?
