Outdoors suggestions

Post by kprice5 Mon May 04, 2009 6:03 pm

I will be doing some crappie n walleye fishin on friday morning. I will be using just a bobber, size 6 hook and ill lip hook a minnow on for crappie, any suggestions to get some walleye? I will be fishing from shore, depth is about 6 feet. I know there are some nice eyes in the lake, but have never landed one. I will have both shinners and worms.

hook a night crawler thru the head and leave it whole. throw it out with no weight and just let it go to the bottom. about every 2 or 3 minutes, move it a couple of feet. we have the same problem at cobb , lots of walleye, but rare whn you get them. my buddy garrett was doing this for largemouth last week and picked up a 22" and 24" walleye.don't throw it into a school of bluegill!

I'd try a jig and tail, 1/8 or 1/16th with a shiner
If there are any rocks, or sumerged structure try that Wink

yeah I tried the 1/8 oz jig head with a chartreuse twister tail but nothing. Ill throw my entire arsenal at them on friday until I find out what works lol. If you hook the minnow with the jig head wont it fall off pretty easily?

OneMoreCast wrote:I know this is too late to help, but when I use night crawlers and tight line or bobber fish on the bottom for walleye I like to use eagle claw weedless hooks. You can get them at Walmart just look for the hooks with the bar that wraps around the barb of the hook. This will save you from a lot of headaches of getting hung up ever few minutes. You wont believe how much that weed guard helps until you try it. Best of luck to ya.

Here's what they look like

I agree 100%. Its also good when casting for largemouth on very weedy or around alot of structure. Saves you a bunch of hooks and gets you places you might be afraid to cast at.
