Crappie fishing 3/20/10 (Update 3/21)

My dad went down to the Maumee river near Grand Rapids this morning while I was stuck at baseball practice. He started fishing around 7am and had a fairly successful day. He ended up with seven nice crappies and lost twice that many due to getting off. We are bringing a small net tomorrow lol. Fish were caught with minnows fished by brush piles, trees, and slackwater.

Biggest was 12"

My dad and I went back to the same place he did yesterday. It was about 7am when we stopped at the first brush piles, and it didnt take long before we had some bites. The whole day we moved around on different logs, trees, piles and stuff in the water picking off crappies. A bunch of them got off today by wrapping us in the trees and falling off of the hook while pulling them up a 5ft slope lol. Seems like they came by in waves and we would catch a few real quick and then nothing. Had a blast! Fish were caught on minnows about 1.5 feet under a bobber.

Fish were 9.5 to 12.5"
