Outdoors Sandusky bay bassin

Well I decided to fish the bay today seeing how my time was limited. I threw a worm for a while and didn't do anygood so I switched over the a shallow crank and ended up with 4 in 6 casts. I hooked one really deep and got into the gills of one, and was bleeding pretty bad. I read somewhere if you pour pop with citric acid such as Mountain dew on the gills it helps to stop the bleeding, and I was surprised that it worked.
