CJ Brown Report 3-7-2009

I got a job working at the bait shop right across the street from the spillway, the word about CJ today from people coming in is there are a few crappie being caught around the marina, nothing big, just primarily small dinks right now... a few walleye were taken friday 3/6/09 off the rip rap wall of the damn on hot-n-tots... and perch in the 5-10" range, crappie in the 10-12" range and a few walleye have been being caught out of the spillway using small 1/32oz jig or ice jig under a small float tipped with waxworms...

working a the bait shop, you will get to see alot of good fish and pass on a lot of info. way to go

yea it does... I think I'd rather keep my $2.59 and go pick my own dozen worms... prices of things have gone out the roof!

gonna have to resort in collecting my own bait i guess.

Hey Jerry whats happening around CJ?

not alot... last I heard water temps were still in the low 40's for the majority of the lake and little to no fish... the spillway was still producing some perch and crappie but was slowing down... no eyes out of the lake but a few were being caught throughout buck creek down from the spillway...

clark lake seemed to be the hot spot this past weekend... crappies and bluegill were being caught around the lake... with some really nice crappie (12"+) around dark close to cover on small jigs tipped with waxworms and minnows

I hear ya... I dont know how Roger and his crew are fairing on the sheds this year... but one guy that always hunts with them does really well no matter what... I'll have to check with 'em and find out

Yeah I know he probably already checked shoeys and I looked behind my Moms. I'm pretty sure he has been doing good. I think he found eight over off grant

I wont know until tomorrow evening... but im pretty sure I will be...

that sucks, i only work a few weekends a year. its defin. no fun esp. on those warm spring days.

I know... It's going to kill me once the trout are stocked and the WB start running... But Im looking for a better job still... so maybe before that time arrives I will have something with better pay and through the week hours

good luck, took me quite a few years to land a job with weekends off, only downfall of my job is being on call 7 days in a row every third week. but the upside is i get to drive my company truck fishin that week.

It's cool that you get a company truck, I used to be on call way more than my share.. which was supposed to be every other week... and no company car. On call money is good though!

we don't get paid for on call, but truck goes home with me every night,no office to report to just get work of my laptop every day.
